4 modes of EV charger introduction:1. Mode 1
There is no adapter (or named control EV box,) on the charging cable. When the car is charging, it is directly plugged into the household AC socket through the cable of the charging cable for charging, and communication with the vehicle cannot be established. The maximum current strength and voltage cannot be confirmed during charging. The charging method of Mode 1 has basically been eliminated due to poor safety.
2. Mode 2
The main charging mode of portable EV charger currently on the market. The difference from mode 1 is a protective device, an adapter is added. At the same time, communication is established with the vehicle through the control cable, and charging parameters can be exchanged between the vehicle and the charger. Portable EV charger generally adopts this mode, and the charging current is small,generally 8-16A.
3. Mode 3
The difference between Mode 3 and Mode 1 or 2 is that the charging plug is not connected to the household AC power grid, it is connected to a dedicated AC power supply device, that is, an AC charging pile. At this time, the charging plug can have no adapter, because the AC charging pile itself plays a protective role. Mode 3 can not only ensure the safety of charging, but also increase the charging speed to a certain extent (10/13/32/63A).AC charging station and EV wall box are both mode 3.
4. Mode 4
Mode 4 is a DC EV charging station, which charges electric vehicles in a short time. It has high-power and high-voltage working conditions. Generally, it is not for household use, but it is specially set up in fast charging charging stations. The charging current in mode 4 is large, and the current is generally DC 80/125/200/250A, so the natural charging speed is also the fastest. However, DC charging has very high installation requirements and costs, and long-term DC charging will affect the life of the battery.
